The Spokane Bar Foundation manages these funds, which are tax exempt under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). The Foundation awards this scholarship to a Gonzaga law student who intends to stay in the Spokane area to further the goals of diversity within Spokane’s legal community by ensuring equal opportunity and inclusion for Spokane attorneys regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age and disability. Through collaboration with other organizations, the Foundation is committed to promoting inclusiveness through ongoing efforts focusing on recruitment and retention of diverse attorneys within the local bar association and judicial system. Though managed by the Spokane Bar Foundation, donations made under this category are specifically delineated for these scholarships.
